Come act in original short plays, by teens and for teens! The Young Playwrights Festival showcases the work of some of the best teenage writers in the Omaha area. Most of the scripts featured in this production are created as part of The Rose’s yearlong Young Playwrights class, which is led by The Rose’s award-winning Playwright-in-Residence, Brian Guehring. Written entirely by teens, the works are filled with comedy, tragedy, hopes, fears, romance, and all-out fun. Young Art pulled the mighty sword Excalibur from the stone, proving that they are the true ruler of Camelot! Only one problem … Excalibur has gone missing the day before Art’s coronation, so Art and their friends set off on a wild adventure of wizards, fairies, and dragons to find the missing sword and learn the true meaning of what it means to be a leader! Students in play in a week camp audition, rehearse and put up a short play all in a week with light costuming and set. We hope you’re ready for a “BAD BOY” Summer. Strength training is essential for building a solid foundation for dance. This camp is a great introduction for the male dancer, actor, or athlete wanting to explore the world of street hip hop, jazz, fitness & conditioning. It’s also a great opportunity to improve flexibility, posture, fitness, musicality, and precision of movement. We will also be introducing several dance styles and tricks as the boys will get to work with some of the city's strongest male dance instructors and choreographers. Combining dance technique with physical conditioning, BAD will provide formal dance training while building strength and stamina. This class only meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays. In this upbeat, imagination-fueled camp, performers dive into the wild, creative world of the Flynn-Fletcher backyard, where every day brings a new invention, a new adventure, and a new musical number. In the afternoon, acting students will be directed by teens in the Young Directors camp. These scenes will be performed in a class sharing on the last day of camp.
